Stop & Smell The Roses Blog Bouquet

026So here we are with the summer solstice upon us.  While they celebrate in England at Stonehenge, here in Pacific Northwest, it’s with the promise of sunshine.  And, this year, young love.  We drove to the mountains and a hillside lodge where love was in the air. Around us were friends and family who gathered to witness the marriage of two wonderful young people.  As the late afternoon sun warmed the mountain breeze, they exchanged their vows.  With champagne toasts and good wishes all around, it was a fantastic way to spend the summer solstice.  We all smiled and laughed and remembered when love was brand new for us as well.    It was indeed a day to stop and smell the roses as romance bloomed all around us.  And what did summer solstice bring into your life?  Share your thoughts and on Tuesday, June 23rd, I’ll draw a name from those who leave a comment.  The winner will receive Salem’s Fire, a paranormal romance set in the same area where the wedding was held!

Be sure to take a minute to cruise through the rest of the blog tour.  Enjoy and I look forward to your comments.

  1. I’d rather be at Stonehenge, Sheri! ;) Ok, or the Pacific Northwest. I’m a big Native American fan and you’ve got some of the most interesting cultures up there! Have a great day!

  2. The summer soltice brings lazy days with my girls and just a time to kick back and relax. Although, here is SC it’s so unbearably hot and humid. Thanks for the post today!

  3. Good morning:

We’re heading to Stanley, Idaho, in about 2 weeks for 10 days. Right along the river, below the soaring peaks of the Sawtooths.

  4. I know what you mean Skhye — a trip to Stonehenge would be awesome. We could use some your heat here today Val. It’s raining but it’s supposed to clear out tomorrow. Stanley, Idaho is really pretty Patsy. Have a good trip.

  5. Morning, Sheri!

Summer is my favorite time of the year. I love the warmth and am still looking for a lazy afternoon. hehe Haven’t found it yet.

I spent the solstice watching my dd perform in High School Musical at one of our local theaters. For her 13th birthday, she wanted to enroll in a workshop there, which all the students eventually perform the HSM show. She has tons more guts than me to sing and perform for an audience. I’d much rather write the play than be in it. lol

    Have a super day,

    ~Donna

  6. My boyfriend was out-of-state during the soltice, so I celebrated it with my two retrievers enjoying our first swim of the season. I had surgery six weeks ago so this was my first chance to enjoy the cool breeze off the clear waters of Belton Lake. Always a wonderful way to beat the heat while spending quality time with my “furkids”!

  7. Hi Sheri, I don’t know the Pacific side as I live in South Florida. The summer is gorgeous, the breeze gentle and the ocean refreshing on the Atlantic side. I have been working my way down these blogs, smelling the roses and meeting the authors. My sweet and spicy medical romance, BABIES IN THE BARGAIN,a sort of Grey’s Anatomy, is coming in two weeks to TWRP.

  8. ” We all smiled and laughed and remembered when love was brand new for us as well”

I so remember these times when ever I go to a wedding or any family occasion – or just sometimes the little things that make you remember where it all began and you think the newness would never wear off –

    Love the thoughtfull post..

  9. Summer around here means lots of time to enjoy having fun with my two boys–and hopefully finding some time to write again!

    Great blog!

  10. Lazy evenings sitting outside on the swing and watching the sun set. I love summer!

  11. Now, I’m from England and I could so kick myself now because I neve went to see Stonehenge. How I would LOVE to!!

Now I’ve transpanted to Germany, I have seen some marvellous sites here!!

I’m enjoying going about the blogs and smelling all the sweet roses!!!

    Valerie

  12. Longer days with hopefully lots of sunshine! We’ve had more than our share of rainy, gloomy days around here.

  13. Hi Sheri,

The summer solstice brought an encounter with a rattle snake.Oh to be in the part of the Pacific Northwest that isn’t the high desert! LOL I’ll be heading through your way on July 2nd to a wedding in Kalispell.

  14. What a romantic way to start summer…a wedding. It was cloudy here most of the day. But I started my summer a week or so ago by catching up on some reading out on the front porch. Cozy, cozy.

  15. Oh, to be in England. OR the Pacific Northwest. (Instead of summer in Waco, Texas.)

I’ve been to Stonehenge twice. The first time was on summer solstice in 1987 but later in the day. I understand they let the modern-day Druids rush out and touch the stone. (They’re roped off now because of graffiti. What a shame.)

Val, shame on you for not going!!!

I love Brit lit and taught it for many years, so I’m a great Anglophile. I think I’d also love your part of the U.S., Sheri.

Sounds like a wonderful way to celebrate the first day of summer.

  16. Great comments everyone. Shame on you, Valerie! Of course, it is easy to miss things when it’s right where you live. I often forget how spectacular the Spokane Falls are because I seem them every day. When I actually take the time to stop and look then it hits me how incredible they are and how lucky we are to have such a splendid bit of nature in our world. Paty — sure sure to wave as you drive by on your way to Montana! See you all in the morning when I draw the winner’s name.

  17. It mean longer days to enjoy the outdoor. I love outside in the summer.

  18. summer solstice got me to remeber the lazy days the beauty of nature the flowers and the smells of summer i love the beauty of nature

  19. I like summer because of the longer days, but I live in South Texas and these hot summer days make me wish for ice and snow! LOL

  20. I’m from the PN as well. I wound up going home from work early because I was in pain. Better now though so here I am Stopping and checking out the roses! (I just didn’t feel right saying I was smelling you! LOL)

  21. Thanks everyone for the great comments. I think one thing is very clear we ALL like the summer solstice! Or maybe, we just all like summer (except for maybe you folks in Texas…) The drawing has been done and the winner is–drumroll please–Lupe! So, Lupe, if you would email me at sherilewiswohl@comcast.net, I’ll will send you a digital copy of Salem’s Fire. Thanks everyone, I appreciate your stopping by and playing. Have a great summer.
