I’ve been wondering about the advantage of book trailers in actually selling more books.  Do they work?  I sure can’t tell.  It seems that sales are down all across the board these days and that’s not a big surprise.  You know, crappy economy and all.  Still, one has to wonder if the little snippets gleaned the videos do, in fact boost sales.  In some respects it doesn’t matter a whole bunch — at least not to me.  Why, you ask?  Because quite simply, they’re fun to make.  Writing is a wonderful endeavor that I find most fulfilling.  But, like many other creative people, I enjoy other outlets for creativity besides writing.  I love to paint, though I really do suck at it!  I love to do art quilts but find that the time commitment is too much these days.  Book videos, on the other hand, are fun to do, don’t require a ton of time, and fulfill that artistic part of my personality that longs to be an artist.  So, I guess it boils down to if they help to sell more book fantastic.  If they don’t, at least I’m having fun!
